Things I learned in 2019

It’s crazy how this year is coming to a close; I feel like time just passes faster the older you get. And even a slight bit faster when you have kids. I swear Tums was just born 4 months ago and not 9.

2019 was one of the worst years I’ve had in a very very long time. Dare I say it was just as bad if not worse than 2014? Cause it sure as hell felt like it — not to mention I also had to get on meds this year. That’s how rough it was.

Christmas 2018 🎄

IMG_0234

I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with Christmas ever since I was little — to the point where in my teen and early adulthood years it caused seasonal depression. My worst mental breakdown came around the holidays in 2014 which completely wrecked me mentally and I still to this day get hallucinations when I’m overly stressed; even if I feel fine.

So me and the holidays have never really had a very good or healthy relationship.

In the more recent years I’ve tried to focus on self traditions to find ways to enjoy the holidays because depressed or not the holidays are really a beautiful time of the year.

Winter Favs: Colourpop Liquid Lippies

IMG_8553

I LOVE Colourpop Liquid Lipsticks!

They’re one of the first liquid lipsticks brands I’ve tried. They can be a bit drying, but I think all liquid lip can be to some sort of drying. I always put on lip balm then do my normal makeup routine THEN put on the liquid lippie last so it gives the balm time to sink into my lips. Especially since I struggle with dry lips, all year round.

These are a few of my fav reds that I like using during the holiday season — though some of these I also like to grab year round.

Holiday TBR

IMG_9028

December — when I was a full time book blogger — was usually dystopia month but the last few years it’s been my favorite holiday re-reads and a TBR that’ll give me all those cozy holiday feels.

Unfortunately taking the photo for this blog post has made me realize how many books I don’t physically own.

Also while taking photos I caught a tiny little Sophie tongue as she was trying to get some attention too.

Movie Review: The Princess Switch

The Princess Switch
Release Date: November 16th, 2018
Distributed By: Netflix
Genre: Romance

A Chicago baker is competing in a Christmas baking competition in Belgravia. There she bumps into the prince’s fiancee. They look alike and switch for 2 days.

“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.”

When I saw the trailer for this I knew I had to watch it this holiday season! I have a soft spot for Vanessa Hudgens just as much as I have one for Zac Efron.

This follows Stacy who’s a baker from Chicago and owns a bakery with her best friend Kevin. The movie opens up with Kevin and his daughter Olivia saying they entered Stacy into a baking competition that takes place in Belgravia and she was accepted to compete.

Stacy is the “must plan” type so her dropping everything at her bakery for 3 days to compete seems like an impossible idea. After running into her ex with his new girl she decides to take a chance and go on this trip.

Meanwhile Lady Margaret is set to marry Prince Edward after the holiday season and while she longs to be a normal person without the worries of being royalty she know she has a “duty” to fill since her parents have passed away.

The Princess Switch (2018)

The two run into each other during the baking practice and assume they must somehow be related (I mean ya’ll look EXACTLY alike but sure you must “somehow” be related — uhm no one even mentioned they might be twins).

Overall this movie was cute and quick. I loved the influence that Stacy had on Prince Edward. It’s easy to forget how submissive women in royalty are expected to be and how “threatening” how a strong willed woman could be. And a bit sad because aren’t queens historically more powerful?

I wish they went more into Stacey and who she is, who her parents were. If she had any family. But they barely even touched on her or who she was. Versus we got to know Lady Margaret and Prince Edward a little bit more.

When it came to the actual romances in the film we spent a bit more time with Stacey/Prince Edward and not as much time with Lady Margaret/Kevin.

I know this isn’t meant to be some full length detailed movie so I’m not going to list all the “well what about….” questions that had popped up after I was finished watching it. I did appreciate it for what it was — a cute festive movie just in time for the Holidays!

Have you seen this movie? If not do you plan on watching it? What’s your favorite or go-to holiday movie?

Blogmas 2018~

IMG_8559

Okay, I kiiiiiiiiiiiinda might had forgot it’s blogmas/vlogmas… sooo we’re just gonna wing this.

Whoops.

I really had no idea or any set plans on WHAT to do or feature for blogmas; we had an upcoming trip but we cancelled it recently which sucks but life happens and sometimes there’s no way around that. The most you can do is plan better next time and clear your calendar for those plans.

December is always such a struggle month between various bills, renewals, holidays, freakin Christmas. It was easy when I spent the holidays alone and always planned to work on that day anyway… family holidays have always been a bit of a struggle for me.

Christmas has never really been a big holiday growing up; my mom had set traditions that she made sure we knew how important they were but majority of the time she spent Christmas Eve/Day working. So the “celebration” part and the “family” part had never really resonated with me. Now that I’m building my own family and the fact that Bubba has such a huge close family is a bit overwhelming to me. It’s not that bad but sometimes it still makes me a little uncomfortable, at least the thought does but once I get there they make feel comfortable enough to forget that part. For that, I’ll always be thankful.

We have a few Christmas themed stuff we want to do around the Dallas/Fort Worth area this month; I’m hoping to get a few different type of photos for my blogs. But I’m so awkward in front of the camera sometimes.

We also have some wedding and Baby Lo prepping to get done… actually a lot of planning and prepping is in our very close future lol.

Here’s to December: The things I’ll discover, learn, experience and hopefully find a few new favorite things!
