July 2020 Goals

It’s been awhile since I’ve written a goals list but I figured I should start it up again!

How crazy is it that we’re more than half way through the year already?! That’s insane! But I hope the end of 2020 and the start of 2021 will be better.

F I N A L L Y.

I remember to do this dang post lmao. I have no idea why I tend to forget about it all the time when I’m constantly bookmarking either blog posts to read later, come back to later or ones I just find interesting. I thought to create this weekly feature to share some of the blog posts I’ve found during the week!

I know with the whole world-on-lock-down going on a lot of us are having to cancel and miss out on things we’ve been looking forward to like vacations and celebrations. A few of my friends had to cancel their weddings and we had to cancel Tums first birthday celebration (though I  think I’m going to do a Facebook Live of it, not sure yet) as well as my birthday celebration to Vegas (after not being back there in 9 years, sigh).

Despite that I’ve actually been really into looking at travel blogs and travel pinterest accounts as inspo for where I want to jet off to next… and dream about going on vacation lol.

— JadeMarie lists 8 podcasts you should listen to (there’s some great blog ones in here!)
— MJ shares some tips on how to stay productive at home
Caffeine & Conquer has me obsessing over Pinterest development
— Beth at BooksNest shares my struggles of OCD contamination and shares her story

I’d like to post more mental health blog posts but I just never know what to say sometimes lol, it’s so weird. Like I just go blank!

What are some links you’ve bookmarked this week? How are you all handling this quarantine?

Two Year WordPress Anniversary!

img_8203

I can’t believe I’ve had Places + Peonies for two years now!

I definitely haven’t posted as many blog posts as I wished I had when I started this blog and obviously my Instagram feed isn’t what I had imagined either. I think I put too much pressure on myself to have  the perfect feed which I’m sure many of us are guilty of the same expectation.

I started this blog as a place to talk about mental health, gaming, traveling and to just  be myself. To talk about the things I couldn’t talk about on hazearella anymore cause it turned into this beauty/candle blog. And I told myself I wouldn’t try to be perfect here. Yet, here I am. Expecting exactly that!

In the last two years though I have opened up about things I never really got the chance to talk about especially regarding my past and things I still need to face and come to terms with. In the last two years I’ve also made this into a DOT COM blog and sort of decided on a slightly new direction for it.

It’s hard to not incorporate my mom stuff here sometimes just because I have a different blog for that; but also because I AM a stay at home mom so most of the things I want to talk about on a day to day basis are about motherhood or just about the baby. I try to slip in a post here and there, just so she has some sort of something here but I try not to do it too often.

So what do I hope to accomplish in the next year or so here?

Happy Blogtober 🎃

It’s officially October 1st!

And even though I like to start Fall prepping in July; I never think of blog/vlogtober prep. No matter how many years it’s been now.

I’ve decided this year to try my hand at doing both. I miss making content and maybe this will help spark up some inspo and get me back into the groove of creating content.

First of all; was the last time I really blogged when I was 33 weeks?!

Yikes, I have a lot of catching up to do! I also have a lot of foodie reviews I need to do on the family blog!

I don’t have anything fun or cool pre planned, I’m kinda just winging this so we’ll see how this goes… or rather how long I’ll last 😂.

It’s not funny, but I’m hoping it will be. I think.

Are you planning on doing blog/vlogtober? Do you have any planned out topics if you are?

Explore Your City — Uptown Dallas

img_0932

2018 was a whirlwind of a year.

I also hate how out of order my posts are going to be for the next month; I still have one or two 2018 posts I want to write but I’ve already started writing 2019 posts. Whoops.

Pregnancy brain.

For one of the last trips to Dallas in 2019 I wanted to try a French bakery that I’ve had my eye on pretty much all year — Bisous Bisous Pâtisserie which is located in Uptown Dallas. I won’t be reviewing the bakery in this post, I’m saving that for a different post cause it deserves its own post. Trust me.

I’ve wanted to change the content for hazearella (my lifestyle/makeup/candle blog) for a few years now but never had the drive to make the content or take the pictures I wanted. So I decided on this day, I was going to.

I wanted to start 2019 with being the blogger I always wanted to be; to my surprise when I pitched this idea to Bubba his only response was: “F I N A L L Y.” Gotta love a man who supports your passions!

I’m still working on not being camera shy and I’m still working on how to pose for photos. I’m so use to being behind the camera and when I’m not, I’m usually turned around or taking a selfie.

img_0933

I hope in 2019 I’m able to let go of these small silly insecurities. That I’m able to express myself more and be okay with the fact that no matter how hard I try sometimes my makeup isn’t going to always be perfect. Or that not every photo will be perfection. But I hope to post it all anyway. I hope to have fun with it. I hope to fall in love with lifestyle blogging the way I always dreamed and wanted.

I also hope to learn how to dress myself like a human being as well! I told myself no hoodies in 2019 (I mean of course there’s certain exceptions but for the most part if we’re going OUT OUT, no hoodies). I use to put effort into dressing nice and doing my hair and putting on makeup; I want to get back into that habit again.

Because it made me feel good. It made me feel awake and alive. It made me feel productive. And with a baby on the way — I’m sure you can assume how drained and blah I feel on a daily basis. Pulling yourself out of that is hard; but I don’t want to end up like those mama’s who can’t find time to take care of themselves and end up blaming the baby.

Baby Lo is here to enhance my life. Not take over it. Not change it. Not take things away from me. But add on that extra encouragement. The extra smile and laugh while I figure out this new chapter in my life that’s coming up quick!

My Christmas Wish List

I wish I knew how to do those cool all in one images for stuff like this, I feel like the format I use is sort of sloppy. Whomp!

This is the Christmas list I sent my fiance; I didn’t include the stuff off my list he already got me.

I just realized though — most of the things on my wish list is makeup… and food. I wanted to incorp more skincare items since I acquired a mysterious scar on my forehead that makes it look like someone tried to bite into it. I also wanted to incorp more house things. I need to revamp my apartment and my life, basically.

Blogmas 2018~

IMG_8559

Okay, I kiiiiiiiiiiiinda might had forgot it’s blogmas/vlogmas… sooo we’re just gonna wing this.

Whoops.

I really had no idea or any set plans on WHAT to do or feature for blogmas; we had an upcoming trip but we cancelled it recently which sucks but life happens and sometimes there’s no way around that. The most you can do is plan better next time and clear your calendar for those plans.

December is always such a struggle month between various bills, renewals, holidays, freakin Christmas. It was easy when I spent the holidays alone and always planned to work on that day anyway… family holidays have always been a bit of a struggle for me.

Christmas has never really been a big holiday growing up; my mom had set traditions that she made sure we knew how important they were but majority of the time she spent Christmas Eve/Day working. So the “celebration” part and the “family” part had never really resonated with me. Now that I’m building my own family and the fact that Bubba has such a huge close family is a bit overwhelming to me. It’s not that bad but sometimes it still makes me a little uncomfortable, at least the thought does but once I get there they make feel comfortable enough to forget that part. For that, I’ll always be thankful.

We have a few Christmas themed stuff we want to do around the Dallas/Fort Worth area this month; I’m hoping to get a few different type of photos for my blogs. But I’m so awkward in front of the camera sometimes.

We also have some wedding and Baby Lo prepping to get done… actually a lot of planning and prepping is in our very close future lol.

Here’s to December: The things I’ll discover, learn, experience and hopefully find a few new favorite things!

Fall Bucket List 2018

This is my second Fall in Texas and I’ve been searching for more and more events and things to do during the Fall time. I spent 5 years in Florida and while I love love love the 90º year round I’m also slightly excited to be in a place that has a REAL Fall — despite my hate for cold rainy weather.

DALLAS ARBORETUM

42266760_10161018462370553_5232180884278345728_o

I don’t know why I just stumbled on this place a few months ago (via an Instagram ad at that)! Last year they themed it OZ! OZ! And my heart breaks a little that I had no idea This year’s theme is Neverland which, I can also get down with. I peaked the location tag on Instagram and the grounds look gorgeous! I’m not sure what to expect but I have the cutest outfit ready and set to take a million pictures of the Baby Lo bump and of course me!

I know they also have an afternoon Tea Time here but only Mon-Fri and since Bubba works during the week it’s going to be a bit difficult to be able to attend one; but from looks of it they also set up the place nicely for Christmas as well! So, we’ll see!

NORTHPARK CENTER’S PUMPKIN PATCH

22405737_10155256754397880_4225632026178047432_n

Northpark is one of my favorite malls in Dallas — actually in all of the DFW area! This place is my absolute weakness! We were just there last weekend and now that I think about it, the place was completely decked out in cornstalks and pumpkins. It was some kind of magical! I didn’t see the outside bits since we usually park in the parking garage but we may be able to stop by here again one more time before they take it all down and I’ll definitely take a bit of advantage of that and wander the grounds outside to see if this is out there!

I haven’t been to a proper Pumpkin Patch since I was a child. There is something ultra Fall about a Pumpkin Patch! Granted I don’t really dabble in carving pumpkins anymore… now that I’m older I see how messy the whole process can be and I’m just not about that life lol but it’s always fun to see all the different shapes and sizes of Pumpkins. Is that weird to say?!

TEXAS STATE FAIR

IMG_4776

It has always been on my bucket list to visit the Texas State Fair! I remember years ago I’d watch segments on it on The Food Network and how EVERYTHING there was deep fried, this was before that trend started to spread nationwide at least as far as I knew.

Last year I got to go for my first time and we went on the last weekend of the fair which made it pretty crowded and hectic but there was SO much to see and do! As you can see from the photo it was also cloudy and had rained earlier that day. I’m hoping this year will be bright and warm!

There’s a few new snacks that were added to this years line up and I have a few of them on my list of foods to try. Besides that there’s so much of the fair I didn’t get to see the last time we were there that I hope to see this time!

Maybe this time I’ll actually grab a map lol.

RAMEN EXPO USA

20728220_519757178363230_6687352850085326103_n

A random event I had stumbled on while scrolling through Facebook is the Ramen Expo! I had no idea things like this happened and happened in Texas at that! This gives you the chance to taste test different types of Ramen from broths to noodles and everything in between! I don’t know too much about it just that it’s RAMEN and it’s an EXPO, I mean how cool is that?!?

DALLAS WATER LANTERN FESTIVAL

36320118_234772830643911_2783213432864768000_o

I’ve always wanted to do one of these and I thought you could only do them in other countries! Imagine my surprise when I found out you can do them here as well!

Tangled was one of the first movies Bubba and I watched together so stuff like this has a special spot in my soul! Though I think the date of this event may clash with another event we had planned, whomp! But I’m still holding out hope I get to see this happen!

FW BOTANIC GARDEN AUTUMN AFTERNOON TEA

39454251_1795437673825255_3210996165570985984_o

Another tea event I randomly stumbled across that takes place in the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. I’ve passed by this place a few times but have never actually been yet. Thankfully this tea event is on a Saturday! But we’ll see what Bubba has to say; it sound fun!

What are some fun things you’re looking forward to doing in your area this Fall?

Things I love about Fall

946078_540922212325_1858260323012825110_n

I’m part of the many people who wait all year long for Fall!

When I lived in Cali I loved feeling the change of seasons (and Fall meant those big fat spiders who don’t even spin webs and just sit in corners and pop up in bathtubs would go away), the leaves changing colors, the crisp cool air was probably my fav part of it all. Like the air just felt different! I can never describe it exactly as it’s more of a feeling than a thing. But that shift is my fav.

When I moved to Florida and started working for Disney I noticed we don’t get a Fall. Sure the decor in Magic Kingdom changed to reflect the yellows, oranges and reds. There were Mickey pumpkins hung under every light post. And the display windows showcased Mickey and Minnie in their traditional Halloween outfits.

Despite the fact that Fall doesn’t exist in those parts, it never stopped me from cranking up my AC, decking out my apartment, planning for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (though running around and Trick or Treating in 90º weather makes you sweat, quickly) and watching my usual Fall movie line up!

Now that I’m in Texas I finally get to enjoy some kind of Fall at some point… even though it’s still around 80º here right now. But Fall is coming! I can feel it!

20799925_1983602048550035_1501348601577267465_n

And of course Fall/Halloween photoshoots with Axelyn with Penny are my favs around this time of the year!

What are some of your favorite things about Fall?

HELLO OCTOBER 🎃~!

11659328_1672133273030249_4323910777339489994_n
Throwback to my counter placement in 2015 — even though Florida doesn’t believe in Fall.

It’s finally October!

Which is the most wonderful time of my year!

This year I decided to participate in #BLOGTOBER as I usually do but I also wanted to do what I did last year as well which was make a weekly VLOGtober weekly recap. Sadly I wasn’t able to prep for Blogtober the way I usually do since September was eaten up by nausea and a crap ton of morning sickness! Which may come as a surprise since I haven’t announced it yet that I’m pregnant but ‘ll get into that later in the week.

But because of that I’m also wayyy behind of decorating my apartment for Fall as well, it’s already OCTOBER and I don’t have ANYTHING set up yet! It’s definitely giving me a stronnng sense of anxiety since I usually start up late July/Early Aug. Which I thought to this year but morning sicknses hit me RIGHT AFTER, sigh.

So, between writing daily blog posts and coming up with product shots and all this and that, I’m also working on tidying up my apartment and setting up for Fall with the few weeks I have left to enjoy it before having to take it all down for Winter. These seasons are just WAY too close together!

What are your plans for this month? Are you going to participate in Blogtober?
